Special Olympics Hosted a FUNFitness Event in June Special Olympics North Carolina hosted a FUNFitness Health Event on June 1, where 107 health screenings were completed. Special Olympics athletes attended screening stations testing their flexibility, balance, strength and cardiovascular fitness, as well as providing education. Approximately 40 volunteers, including physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students, were present to assist in the health screenings. Physical Therapy programs at University of NC, High Point University, Elon and Duke were all represented as part of the volunteers.
Health screenings through Healthy Athletes disciplines, like FUNFitness, will be available to Special Olympics NC athletes at the annual Fall Tournament held November 21-23. Join us as a volunteer! To get involved with future health events, please reach out to health@sonc.net
